Getting there (from India (major metros)):

For a three-day trip, compare Tokyo Narita and Haneda carefully; Haneda usually saves around 45-75 minutes into central Tokyo. Look roughly 8-12 weeks ahead, and consider a return flight from Tokyo rather than adding a multi-city ticket.

Narita Airport is far from central Tokyo, so price the Narita Express or airport bus before choosing a cheaper flight.

Tokyo Disneyland is in Maihama, outside central Tokyo; reaching it after a morning Shinjuku visit is not practical, so keep it as the first major stop on Day 2.

Most Tokyo stations involve stairs and long underground walks; reserve a small amount of cash for lockers because oversized luggage is awkward on commuter trains.

Tourist visa required for Indian nationals: apply at the Japanese embassy/VFS center. The government fee is INR 1,300 single-entry (INR 2,600 for multi-entry), plus a VFS service charge of INR 800 - budget around ₹2,100 total. Processing is 5-7 working days (an e-visa option, launched 2024 in Delhi/Mumbai/Bangalore/Chennai, runs 3-5 working days), longer in peak seasons (Mar-May, Oct-Nov). Round-trip flights and hotel must be confirmed before applying.

Day 1: Shinjuku After Dark

Take in the glow of Tokyo Tower before wandering through the intimate lanes of Shinjuku Golden-Gai. Enjoy dinner at ICHIRAN Shinjuku Station Central East Exit, then continue the night with music and energy at T2 SHINJUKU (Nightclub).

Eat: ICHIRAN Shinjuku Station Central East Exit - Order the tonkotsu ramen with your preferred noodle firmness; the individual booths make a late meal easy.

Evening: Settle into the lively atmosphere at T2 SHINJUKU (Nightclub) after exploring Shinjuku Golden-Gai.

Budget for the day: ₹6,800-12,200 per person

Day 2: Theme Park to Temple Lights

This is the packed day, but it earns its place: spend the morning at Tokyo Disneyland, then shift to historic Sensō-ji and finish with Tokyo Skytree.

Evening: After Tokyo Skytree, return to your hotel rather than adding another district; this day is physically long.

Budget for the day: ₹14,200-22,500 per person

Day 3: Shibuya Streets and Coffee

Start with a visit to the Hachiko Statue, then enjoy lunch at Uobei Shibuya Dogenzaka Store before slowing down over a carefully prepared drink at Starbucks Reserve® Roastery Tokyo. Finish with the fresh flavors and bustling stalls of Fish Market Tsukiji Outer Market.

Eat: Uobei Shibuya Dogenzaka Store - Order several conveyor-belt sushi plates through the tablet; it is quick, affordable and easy before the afternoon walk.

Evening: Savor the atmosphere and fresh offerings at Fish Market Tsukiji Outer Market.

Budget for the day: ₹5,600-9,900 per person
