Three days through Jaipur’s forts, palaces, cinema, gardens, and local food
You’ll begin with Amber Palace, The City Palace, and Hawa Mahal, where sandstone, mirrored interiors, and pink façades fill the first day. Gulab Ji Chai Wale and Raj Mandir Cinema make day two slower and more local. Chokhi Dhani, Jaipur, Nehru Garden, and Birla Mandir, Jaipur give the final day a relaxed mix of culture and evening atmosphere.
Good to Know
Estimated total per person: ₹12,300-25,000
Weather: In September, expect warm afternoons around 30°C or more with occasional rain, while mornings and evenings are more pleasant.
Pack:
breathable cotton clothes
comfortable walking shoes
scarf for temple visits
sunscreen and sunglasses
small umbrella or light rain jacket
Local tips:
Use prepaid or app-based taxis for longer rides, especially the return from Chokhi Dhani, Jaipur.
Carry small notes for autos, temple shoe storage, and quick tea stops.
Do not schedule Amber Palace and Chokhi Dhani, Jaipur on the same day; the cross-city travel would make both feel rushed.
Booking tips:
Reserve accommodation near the central sightseeing area to reduce repeated taxi rides.
Check Raj Mandir Cinema showtimes before fixing the rest of day two.
Getting there (from India (major metros)):
flight: IndiGo, Air India, and Vistara from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad - 1-2 hours nonstop, excluding airport time - ₹5,000-11,000 per person return
train: Vande Bharat Express, Shatabdi Express, and Rajdhani Express connections via Delhi - 4-6 hours from Delhi; longer from other metros - ₹1,500-5,000 per person return
road: Private car or bus from Delhi - 5-6 hours depending on traffic - ₹2,000-5,000 per person return when shared
For a three-day trip, compare a return flight with a train from Delhi; booking the outbound by train and returning by flight can save time without making the whole journey expensive.
Delhi - Jaipur by Shatabdi Express (4.5 hrs, ₹650) or Aravali Express is faster and cheaper than flying when you factor in airport time. Book 60 days ahead on IRCTC.
The 'Pink City taxi' and auto rates are fixed at tourist inflated prices. Use Ola/Uber inside Jaipur city for metered rides.
Amber Fort camera fee (₹200) is separate from the entry ticket. Elephant ride bookings go fast - if doing it, book online at 7am the morning of your visit.
Hawa Mahal is best photographed from the street at sunrise (6:30am before crowds). Entry is from the rear - use Sireh Deori Bazaar entrance, not the facade.
Day 1: Forts, Facades, and Royal Rooms
This is the busiest day, so start early and keep the middle of the day for indoor palace rooms. Hawa Mahal works best later, when the pink façade catches softer light. Few days capture Jaipur better than this one.
Amber Palace (morning): Explore Amber Palace’s grand courtyards, ornate halls, mirrored details, and imposing gateways, which showcase the artistry and ambition of Rajasthan’s royal era. Admire delicate frescoes, carved stonework, and sweeping views from its hilltop setting while imagining ceremonies, courtly life, and defensive strategy within this beautifully preserved historic residence.
The City Palace (afternoon): Take an auto-rickshaw or taxi from Amber Palace in roughly 35-45 minutes, usually ₹250-500 depending on traffic and bargaining. Inside The City Palace, focus on the courtyards, painted doorways, textiles, and quiet museum rooms rather than rushing through every display. The deep blues, reds, and golds feel especially rich indoors after the bright streets outside. An insider tip: carry water and pause in shaded courtyards, because the stone surfaces hold considerable afternoon heat.
Hawa Mahal (late afternoon): Reach Hawa Mahal from The City Palace by auto-rickshaw or taxi in about 10-15 minutes for ₹100-200. Spend time viewing the honeycomb-like façade from the street, then look through the small windows and passages inside to understand how air moved through the palace. The pink sandstone glows warmly near sunset, while the traffic below adds a constant city soundtrack. Ask your driver to stop nearby rather than directly at the busiest frontage; walking the final few minutes is usually quicker.
Eat: Laxmi Misthan Bhandar - Choose a filling thali or traditional sweets for a convenient midday meal.
Evening: Return to Hawa Mahal’s surrounding streets after the harshest heat has eased, then have an early dinner.
Budget for the day: ₹2,200-4,200 per person
Day 2: Tea, Cinema, and Dinner
After yesterday’s fort-and-palace circuit, keep today lighter. A tea stop, an ornate cinema interior, and a relaxed dinner give you time to absorb Jaipur without racing between sights.
Gulab Ji Chai Wale (morning): What a Taste of Tea. One need to taste Tea at Gulab Ji Chai Wale, if you are a Tea Lover. Additionally, the Ban Maska along with the Tea makes the whole experience mind blowing. On a lazy Sunday morning, you will find more than 100 people sipping Tea at the Gulab Chai wale. I have never seen such a huge crowd in one go at a Chai Store. Prices are reasonable and there is a variety of Tea and snacks available since early morning till late night. Please visit.
Raj Mandir Cinema (afternoon): Use a taxi or auto-rickshaw from Gulab Ji Chai Wale; allow around 10-20 minutes and ₹100-250, depending on traffic. Check the day’s showtime and arrive early enough to admire Raj Mandir Cinema’s sweeping foyer, curved staircases, and bright interior details before the film starts. Even if you are not keen on the movie, the building is worth seeing as a distinctly Jaipur cinema experience. An insider tip: choose a seat before the show rather than assuming every section offers the same view.
Handi restaurant jaipur (evening): First time, I visited this restaurant.
Ordered Junglee Mass, Laal Mass, Rumali and Drinks(Both).
Junglee Mass is just excellent, quality of mutton is so good.
Rumali Rooti is good but not very soft.
Laal Maas is good at taste as usual. But little bit spicy.
Service is also good.
Eat: Tapri Central - Order tea with a light snack and keep lunch flexible around the cinema timing.
Evening: Have dinner at Handi restaurant jaipur and keep the rest of the night quiet after the film.
Budget for the day: ₹2,200-4,400 per person
Day 3: Gardens, Prayer, and Folk Evening
Use the final day for greenery and a slower cultural finish. Nehru Garden and Birla Mandir, Jaipur are easygoing daytime stops before the evening programme at Chokhi Dhani, Jaipur.
Nehru Garden (morning): A short taxi ride (15 minutes, ₹150) brings you to this peaceful garden. Stroll among fountains and flowers, a gentle way to end your trip. Kids can run freely while you enjoy the calm greenery.
Birla Mandir, Jaipur (late afternoon): Reach Birla Mandir, Jaipur from Nehru Garden by taxi or auto-rickshaw in roughly 15-25 minutes for ₹150-300. Remove footwear before entering and take a quiet circuit around the white marble temple, where the carved surfaces feel cool underfoot and evening light softens the surrounding city. The temple is best treated as a calm pause rather than a rushed photo stop. Dress respectfully, keep shoulders covered, and avoid carrying food inside.
Chokhi Dhani, Jaipur (evening): Experience Rajasthani culture at Chokhi Dhani. Enjoy traditional food, folk dances, and crafts. It's a fun-filled evening for the whole family. It's a bit farther, so plan for a taxi ride to get there comfortably.
Eat: Thali & more - A thali-style dinner keeps the final evening simple and satisfying.
Evening: Stay for the performances and dinner at Chokhi Dhani, Jaipur, then return by the pre-arranged taxi.
Budget for the day: ₹2,900-5,400 per person
