Day 1: Museum, Mosque, and Market
Begin at The Egyptian Museum in Cairo, then enjoy lunch at Koshary Abou Tarek before visiting Giza Zoo. Finish with the calm, historic atmosphere of Al-Azhar Mosque for a day rich in culture and local flavor.

Spend your first hours with the royal mummies, Tutankhamun’s treasures, stone statues, and tightly packed galleries rather than trying to see every room. The building feels pleasantly cool compared with the street outside. Start upstairs and follow the strongest ancient-Egypt displays before crowds gather; allow extra time for security at the entrance.
Giza Zoo (morning): Amazing experience with the family.. Haven't been there since childhood!
The place needs more restaurants with reasonable prices and small rides with shade for rent to allow parents pushing their little ones

Dress modestly, remove shoes where requested, and pause in the marble courtyard to notice the changing shade and quiet recitation. Visit outside prayer peaks when possible and follow staff guidance. This is a working religious space, so keep photography discreet and avoid blocking worshippers.
Eat: Koshary Abou Tarek - Order koshary with lentils, rice, pasta, chickpeas, tomato sauce, and crisp onions for an inexpensive Egyptian classic.

Wear closed shoes, carry water, and be cautious of unofficial guides offering help near the entrance.
Mohamed Mahmoud Khalil Museum (afternoon): Return from Giza by Uber in roughly 45-75 minutes and ₹600-₹1,200, depending on congestion. This quieter stop suits travellers who want European paintings and a break from archaeological crowds. Move slowly through the rooms, where the contrast between Cairo traffic outside and the muted interiors is striking. Check opening status locally before leaving Giza, since smaller museums can have less predictable schedules than Cairo’s major institutions.
Stage El Nile (evening): Use an Uber from Mohamed Mahmoud Khalil Museum for approximately 15-30 minutes and ₹200-₹450. Settle in for a Nile-side meal and a slower finish after Giza’s walking and sun. Choose a table with an open river view, order something shareable, and let the evening traffic fade into background noise. Confirm the reservation or opening time on the day, especially if you are travelling during a busy weekend.
Eat: Beggah - Choose Egyptian comfort food and share several plates after the Giza visit; portions are better value when shared.
Evening: Keep Stage El Nile as the evening plan rather than adding another cross-city ride after the early Giza start.

Day 3: Memphis, Civilisation, and Citadel
Explore the commanding Saladin Citadel before strolling through the greenery of Al-Azhar Park. After lunch at Hawawshi Al-Rabi', continue to The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization for a fascinating look at Egypt’s heritage.
Saladin Citadel (morning): Take an Uber from The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization for approximately 15-30 minutes and ₹250-₹500. Walk through the fortified complex and look across Cairo’s dense rooftops from the higher terraces. The climb is manageable but exposed, so bring water and wear shoes with grip. Late afternoon gives softer light on the stone walls; allow time for security and for the return ride through busy roads.
Al-Azhar Park (morning): Breathtaking views of the city, lovely walk, nice play area for kids. There are 2 restaurants and smaller eating places- though we didn’t try the food, there were good options.
Only downside- we saw many stray dogs in the garden, controlling them would be good.
The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (afternoon): Return by car from Sphinx of Memphis in roughly 45-75 minutes and ₹700-₹1,400, then spend the afternoon with Egypt’s long timeline and the royal mummies collection. The museum’s modern galleries are easier to navigate than many older collections, with strong lighting and clear displays. Take a quiet pause after the mummies section; the cool, dark gallery is a noticeable relief after the bright road journey.
Eat: Hawawshi Al-Rabi' - Try hawawshi, spiced minced meat baked inside crisp bread; ask about vegetarian alternatives if needed.
Evening: Spend the evening at Al-Azhar Park, enjoying a gentle stroll and a tranquil pause after visiting the Saladin Citadel and The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
